Wicked

Went to London village for the birthday weekend to see Wicked the musical. Anyone who even vaguely knows me knows that my hero's are always the villains. So seeing something where the villain truely is the hero was fabulous. One line review is "Excellent! Go see it immediately if not sooner." Slightly longer review is Kelly Ellis as Elphaba has an excellent voice and belts out the tunes with gusto. The sets were gorgeous without being over the top and the story is a clever retelling of the "little known" tale of the Wizard of Oz. The show was rather stolen by Diane Pilkington as Glinda the good witch. Played in a blonde valley girl 'no brain' stylee she was suitably over the top and very very funny. Line of the night goes to Glinda:"Elphaba, you have to stop this.. Its just shoes!"

It only took us an hour to find the theatre which is pretty good for us country gals in the big city. The theater was 2 streets away from the coach station *blush*. By which time the choice of bad shoes had aged me to a hobbling 70 year old. Still, it didnt matter as I had much fun and may well find a suitable victim to take as an excuse to go again :)
